Turn your students’ art into a limited-edition blanket!

For Indigenous community schools, grades 4-12

Watch for the next contest coming up in January 2025!

Young Designers by WOVEN is a National contest for all Indigenous students from community schools across Canada. The goal of the contest is to inspire students to entrepreneurship and the textile arts by enabling them to bring their creations to market.

Students can submit a drawing through their teacher or school. From the entries received, one winner will see their design turned into a high-quality, eco-friendly blanket under the WOVEN label, a co-brand by the Indigenous-owned company

MINI TIPI and SOARING CIRCLE

It’s super easy and fun to take part!

The contest winner:

Will receive three blankets created from their design

Will see their work promoted for purchase across Canada as a limited-edition product

May have an opportunity to enter a paid artist collaboration with MINI TIPI

2023 WINNER - SUMMER TESTAWICH

Summer is an award-winning Canadian actress of Cree and Latin American heritage, raised on the traditional Syilx Territory in Snpinktn, B.C. When not acting, Summer has a passion for horseback riding, aerial hoop, softball and lacrosse.  She loves spending time with her friends and family geocaching or exploring her Community. She made her acting debut as young Aline in the feature film Bones of Crows (CBC/APTN/SRC). Through this project, Summer spent many months travelling to show this important film to our communities and spending time with the elders. It is here that her art was most influenced.  At a young age, Summer has learned and understands the importance of the interconnectedness of all peoples.
