Ribbon Skirt Competition at Skills Canada SK

Congratulations to Prairie from Sturgeon Lake First Nation for winning gold at the Skills Canada Saskatchewan Ribbon Skirt Competition!
This year’s event took place at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to cheer on our competitors! Thank you to fellow committee members Cree and Candace Longjohn for all their positive energy and help in bringing beading and ribbon skirts to this event. We want to acknowledge the efforts of Skills Canada SK for their work in promoting Indigenous arts!
The prize for gold was a sewing machine, generously donated by Soaring Circle and Janome Canada and competitor kits were donated by Becky’s Place in Fort Qu’Appelle and Twig and Squirell’s Wild Goods in Saskatoon.
