WOVEN 2025 – Mother Earth Blanket

ABOUT PRAIRIE CONSTANT
Prairie Constant is a young Plains Cree artist from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, living in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She grew up learning from her culture and the land-picking medicines such as sage and sweetgrass, harvesting berries, and spending time on traditional practices with her family. Her art reflects Cree values of humility, kinship, and respect for the earth.
In 2025, through the WOVEN Youth Design contest organized with Soaring Circle, her design Mother Earth was selected as the winning piece and brought to life as a woven blanket.
Humility and kinship are important to me because they teach us that we are not better than one another. We are all part of one family, together with the earth and with each other.
