Young Designers by WOVEN is a National contest for all Indigenous students from community schools across Canada. The goal of the contest is to inspire students to entrepreneurship and the textile arts by enabling them to bring their creations to market.

2023 WINNER - SUMMER TESTAWICH

Summer is an award-winning Canadian actress of Cree and Latin American heritage, raised on the traditional Syilx Territory in Snpinktn, B.C. When not acting, Summer has a passion for horseback riding, aerial hoop, softball and lacrosse.  She loves spending time with her friends and family geocaching or exploring her Community. She made her acting debut as young Aline in the feature film Bones of Crows (CBC/APTN/SRC). Through this project, Summer spent many months travelling to show this important film to our communities and spending time with the elders. It is here that her art was most influenced.  At a young age, Summer has learned and understands the importance of the interconnectedness of all peoples.

MINI TIPI is a Canadian brand which operates and manufactures its products locally in Gatineau, Canada. Setting itself apart by collaborating with Indigenous artists to create proper representation and celebrating Indigenous arts and cultures, MINI TIPI is changing the game by providing people with the opportunity to buy while appreciating culture with confidence. Through their artist royalty program and giveback initiatives, MINI TIPI has become leaders in artistic collaborations, community involvement, and local manufacturing.
